Sometimes inspiration comes from a beautiful hike, a favorite animal, or a place that stays with us long after we've left it.
Sometimes it comes from a story that's impossible to forget.
Our Free the Beagles designs were inspired by one of the largest dog rescue efforts in recent U.S. history—a rescue that gave nearly 2,000 beagles the chance to experience something many of us take for granted: freedom.
For us, these designs aren't about looking back at what happened. They're about celebrating what happened next.
Nearly 2,000 Beagles Finally Found Freedom
For years, nearly 2,000 beagles lived at a breeding facility in Cumberland, Wisconsin, where they were raised to supply dogs for laboratory research.
Many of these gentle, friendly dogs had never experienced everyday life outside the facility. They had never explored a trail, chased butterflies through a field, played in a backyard, or curled up on a family's couch after a long day.
Everything changed when federal authorities ordered the dogs to be removed after serious animal welfare violations were uncovered.
It became one of the largest beagle rescues ever carried out in the United States.
Thousands of People Came Together
A rescue on this scale wasn't possible because of one person or one organization.
Animal rescue groups across the country, shelters, foster families, volunteers, transport teams, veterinarians, and thousands of supporters all became part of the story.
Around 1,500 beagles were rescued during the first phase of the operation.
The remaining 500 dogs were safely released in the months that followed, giving nearly every beagle from the facility the opportunity to begin a completely new life.
For many of them, simple moments became extraordinary.
Walking on grass.
Playing with toys.
Running without fences.
Meeting people who simply wanted to love them.
Those ordinary moments became symbols of something much bigger: hope.
Why This Story Inspired Us
When we first learned about the rescue, we didn't want to create designs focused on sadness.
We wanted to celebrate freedom.
Every shirt in this series is our small tribute to the incredible rescue organizations, volunteers, foster families, and advocates whose dedication helped change thousands of lives.
Just as importantly, they're a celebration of the beagles themselves.
Curious.
Playful.
Friendly.
Exactly as beagles were always meant to be.
At the same time, we hope these designs encourage thoughtful conversations about a future where fewer animals—and eventually none—are kept in laboratories for testing, as science continues advancing toward more humane alternatives.
Beagles for Fall & Halloween
Fall and Halloween gave us a chance to bring a warmer, more playful side to the beagle rescue collection.
One of our favorites is Release the Beagles, featuring three happy beagles running through autumn leaves and pumpkins—a hopeful image of freedom, second chances, and finally getting to enjoy life.
The seasonal collection also includes It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, celebrating the joy of seeing beagles safe and home;
The Beagles Found Owners, adding a bit of spooky humor with two mischievous beagles and their skeleton friend;
and Beagles Are Born to Live & Enjoy, where four costumed pups turn Halloween fun into a simple message about the life every beagle deserves.
Together, these designs bring pumpkins, autumn colors, costumes, and humor to the collection while keeping its message of compassion and freedom at the heart of every shirt.
The Designs
🇺🇸 Beagles Freedom 4th of July
The first design celebrates freedom through the spirit of Independence Day.
Seeing three joyful beagles running together felt like the perfect way to represent new beginnings, open spaces, and second chances.
Although it was inspired by the Fourth of July, its message reaches far beyond a single holiday. Freedom, compassion, and hope are worth celebrating every day of the year.

This design became one of the heart of the series.
Three happy beagles running through wildflowers represent exactly what the rescue made possible—a future filled with sunshine, open fields, and joyful moments instead of cages.
Its message is simple, hopeful, and full of optimism.
🌞 Let Beagles Be Beagles
Sometimes the best message is also the simplest.
Beagles love to explore.
They sniff everything.
They run.
They play.
They follow every interesting scent they can find.
This design celebrates those wonderfully curious instincts and reminds us that dogs deserve the freedom to simply be dogs.
🌲 Freedom Starts Here
For many rescued beagles, freedom didn't begin with a destination.
It began with a single step outside.
This design imagines that unforgettable moment—the first walk through nature, the first fresh air, the first trail, and the beginning of an entirely new chapter.

Freedom represents new beginnings, second chances, and the incredible journey thousands of rescued beagles were finally able to begin.
It's one of the simplest designs in the series, but also one of the most meaningful.

If one design captures the heart of the entire series, it's this one.
Dogs belong with families.
They belong on couches, in backyards, on hiking trails, at campsites, and anywhere they can share life with the people who love them.
Not behind laboratory walls.
It's a hopeful reminder of where every dog deserves to be.
More Than a Series of Designs
The rescue of nearly 2,000 Wisconsin beagles reminded millions of people that compassion can create extraordinary change.
What began as a heartbreaking situation became an inspiring story of teamwork, kindness, and determination.
Our Free the Beagles designs celebrate that transformation.

Most of all, they celebrate the dogs who finally got the chance to discover sunshine, grass beneath their paws, and the simple joy of living the life they always deserved.
